Filmed in Tripoli (Lebanon) in March 2020, this 10-minute sequence is an image- memory or testimony of a former present that the past was. It is an invitation to think about and weigh up time through the intersection of past, ongoing and current events. I made this film as part of Ghada Sayegh's ‘Cinema, archives, memory’ seminar at the IESAV (Beirut). On the corniche, time flies, in the midst of a political and economic situation that is collapsing. Before a pandemic, after and during the protests, after the war, until things change, waiting. How can we simultaneously understand what is happening and what remains to be seen? The camera follows passers- by, stops, sometimes shakes, swirls, returns. The sea appears calmly in the middle of the film.
