Moasherat means ‘cohabitation’ in Arabic. I made this video at the end of the UNIDEE residency, module VIII ‘Neither on land nor at sea’, curated by Chiara Cartuccia and Fehras Publishing Practices at Cittadellarte (Biella, Italy). Together, we cohabited, and co-created, in a unique environment. Conversations, readings, sharing archives, hospitality, mapping solidarity, dance, projections, embroidery, walks and cooking. Such was the format of this residency, looking at the transformation of space, where knowledge and memory intersect.

In June 2024, parliamentary elections are being held in France, and the threat of a far-right victory looms large. In the streets of this northern Italian city, I observe the normalisation of a similar political party, and wonder about the place left to cultural solidarity in a context of global violence. Around the words, nature rustles, the river flows and the sun sets silently. The text was written during a workshop during the residency and reflects collective conversations and shared thoughts.
